Some time in or about 1912, our founding partner Mr. T.C. Ray, Solicitor established a solicitor firm, in the name and style of Pal & Ray practicing in the Original Side at the H.C. of judicature at Calcutta, which carried on fully till 1923. Thereafter, Mr. T.C. Ray continued his practice in his own name. The firm T.C. Ray & Co traces its origin to 1924 and was initially a proprietorship concern. In 1925, Mr. G.N. Ghosh was inducted as a partner and M/S T.C. Ray & Co became a partnership concern.
With its headquarters in Kolkata, the firm now has branched out to Delhi, Mumbai and Bhubaneshwar. In over ten decades, the firm has served a diverse clientele, including leading banks, corporates, and government undertakings, delivering solutions across litigation, corporate, family law, Trusts, mergers and Acquisitions to name a few, not withstanding discharge of professional duties in their advisory capacity.

M/S T.C. Ray & Co ( Solicitors and Advocates) represents a tradition of principled legal practice that has been carried forward by successive generations of distinguished professionals.
In the year 1912, the Founder Partner, Mr. T.C Ray, solicitor, first started a Law Firm under the name and style of “Pal & Ray” practicing in the Original Side at the H.C. of judicature at Calcutta, which carried on fully till 1923.
Thereafter, since 1924, he continued to work independently under his own name and style of M/S T.C. Ray & Co, laying the professional foundation that would endure for generations. Thereafter, in 1925, Mr. G.N. Ghosh, solicitor, was introduced as a partner and M/S T.C Ray & Co became a partnership concern.
1953 was the year Mr. Arun Kumar Ray, solicitor, joined the firm as a partner, strengthening its depth of expertise and marking the beginning of a long and distinguished chapter in the firm’s history.
Following the demise of Mr. T.C. Ray, in 1957, the partnership was continued seamlessly by Mr. G.N. Ghosh, solicitor and Mr. Arun Kumar Ray, solicitor ensuring the uninterrupted service to the firm’s clients.
In 1976, Mr. Somnath Ray, solicitor joined as a partner alongside Mr. G.N. Ghosh and Mr. Arun Kumar Ray. Expanding the firm’s capabilities across practice areas, he brought renewed vigour to the firm.
With the death of Mr. G.N. Ghosh, in 1978, the partnership continued under the stewardship of Mr. Arun Kumar Ray, solicitor and Mr. Somnath Ray, solicitor, maintaing the firm’s reputation for excellence.
Following the passing of Mr. Arun Kumar Ray, Mr. Somanath Ray, solicitor continued the firm’s legacy as its sole proprietor from July 1995, guiding it through a new era of practice.
2007 was the year, Mr. Shouveek Ray, joined as a partner, infusing a fresh perspective and expanding the firm’s litigation and advisory practice.
Mr. Shameek Ray joined the firm as an Associate in 2014, bringing valuable expertise and dedication. Thereafter, in 2018, he was elevated to partner, further strengthening the firm’s leadership and strategic capabilities.
